Physical and Emotional Disconnect

Personal relationships sometimes evolve from friendship into something much deeper where emotions become involved and then love blossoms. I am not talking about friends who remain in touch in spite of living thousands of miles apart — I will write a separate post on friends later — here I am talking about friendship between male and female. An ordinary friendship flowers into love and then the heightened emotions lead to physical involvement. This is a natural progression in human evolution and growth — it has been happening since time immemorial.

I have always felt that physical involvement without any emotional connect is just like going to the gym for releasing excess energy — in such cases why should two people get involved? I have a friend who fell in love got married and over time after becoming a father, his partner slowly started moving away to the extent of pushing him away. For some time this led to excessive drinking, going to night clubs for release of pent up energy, outbursts of anger. He could not figure out what was happening, and then he mentioned this to me. We sat down and had a long chat.

I have been listening to Osho for a long time and the solution was obvious. I told him that there is now a physical and emotional disconnect with your partner and you are trying all kinds of things to get over this disconnect. I told him that he should try meditation. Convert this waste of energy into conserving it — because the energy of love and anger is the same, just that the manifestation is positive or negative. Why not convert it into positive energy by turning it inwards. Meditation helps you to awaken the dormant kundalini energy at the base of your spine and raise it upwards. This happens when a spiritual Master accepts you as his disciple. I introduced him to the Samarpan Meditation technique and thereafter the change has been astounding.

The anger, binge drinking and night clubbing has given way to calmness, radiance, inner joy and peace which is reflected in his face. The only way to get over physical and emotional disconnect in my view is through meditation. Meditation helps you in centering yourself, it helps you become one with your soul. Once that happens you become one with universal consciousness, you don’t need anyone anymore as you are now connected with Paramatma, the Supreme Soul. No more physical and emotional disconnect — just a supreme blissful connection with Universal Consciousness.
